Should Beta Testers be allowed to keep their Beta characters into Launch?
"Hello everyone! Characters created in the Game Testing Program (any testing group) will not be carried into the live game. Characters created during Early Game Access (which you get for redeeming your Pre-Order Code on SWTOR.com) will persist when we launch. Hope this dispels any "rumor" about characters in testing carrying over to the live game."

This is how it usually works - no one should be surprised by this! Of course, people will still complain. :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe some people still think that they will be able to carry characters from beta into live. What rock have they been living under all these years? :)
ReplyDeleteThese are clearly people who should be booted from beta so much more sensible people (like myself!) can be invited!
ReplyDeleteUmm, I can think of at least one perk they already got.
ReplyDeleteNot only that, some of them want perks or gifts for being able to play in beta.
ReplyDeleteBeta characters will never carry over from any MMO beta. The servers that they're on are test servers, and they are basically playing builds, not the Gold Disk, so to speak. People who feel that they should carry over definitely don't understand the point of a beta test.
ReplyDeleteWould have thought this was obvious.. lol
ReplyDeleteBeta characters are for testing. They never carry over, and I wouldn't expect them to. With my retail copy, I'm promised some kind of early access for a headstart, and if that means I get a day or two to beat the starting area rush, I'm pleased as punch with that.
ReplyDeleteI figured there had to be an exception or two out there, which is why I added the Western AAA title in there, effectively excluding Earth and Beyond type games :p
ReplyDeleteEarth and Beyond was a western title. It was deveolped by Westwood then put out by EA. And it was one of the major MMOs at the time it was put out. I think everyone else learned from EA's mistake on that one. I doubt EA will make the same mistake again.
ReplyDeleteI knew it was western, but I didn't personally consider it to be AAA caliber. Doesn't matter anyway :-)
ReplyDeleteI liked some of Earth and Beyond, but not enough to buy it. It had some nice elements, though.
ReplyDeleteI agree that they should never be able to carry over. Think of all the exploits that are found during beta that those characters could've abused? I beta tested WoW and someone found an item that you could buy at one vendor, and sell higher to another vendor. That's unlimited gold...You don't want that crap ruining your game's economy from launch day.
