The most important thing is to be "relevant"
Random thoughts.
- Worship that fits the hearers
- Ways to communicate outside of a "weekly meeting"
- Web
- Podcast
- Vidcast
- Forums
- SMS messaging
- Online groups
- Games (You know i had to get WoW in here someplace right? :) )
- Non threatning leadership structure.
- Co-leaders
- Ownership (don't read to much into that, still needs some developing)
- Not confined to a "traditional" time frame.
- Have meetings when those who come can attend, not necessarily based on a old tried and true time frame. Although not tossing out the old Sunday morning schedule either. Being flexible to meet the needs of families that are very busy
- Use online as a way to meet for those who are unable to meet regularly in a physical time and place. But keeping them involved as much as possible.
More to come as I think about it. PLEASE leave a comment with your idea! I want your feedback. What would you like to see in a church?
What would I like to see in a church?
ReplyDeletePeople willing to be 'real', not what they think you want to see/hear.
A pastor who can teach and lay the history of the Word out to those who have never heard it before...
A willingness to accept ideas from all age groups (young and old) and include those ideas in open discussion.
A good music/praise/worship time...not too much, not too little, not too 'clap your hands on every song' and not a funeral dirge.
Acceptance of who you are.
Good fellowship (yes food too).
Ok I was a volunteer staff member for 15 years at a medium size S.B. Church. I was director of the media department. Our job was to enhance the worship service with sound,& lighting along with full media production. During that time we had approximately 30 contates. A grate majority of the congregation approved of our work but there were some that aggressively objected, disliked, & ignored the presents or work of the department. It still bothers me today, but the important thing to rember despite the negative sols came to the LORD.
